AMS 2026 Student Awards

Student Travel Awards

The American Malacological Society offers Student Travel Awards to help support student participation at the Society’s Annual Meeting. These awards are granted on a competitive basis and are intended to assist students who will be presenting their research at the conference.

Applicants for the award:

May have graduated from a degree-granting program within the six months immediately prior to the meeting’s registration deadline.
Must be presenting a talk or poster at the meeting.
Must be a member of AMS. To become a member of AMS, please click here.
Must submit a travel award application by March 31.

Constance Boone Award for Best Student Presentation

The American Malacological Society sponsors an annual competition recognizing outstanding student presentations at the Society’s meeting. Winners receive the Constance Boone Award.

This award honors Constance Boone, a past president of both the American Malacological Society and the Houston Conchological Society, and co-editor of Texas Conchologist. As a long-time associate in the Malacology Department of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and a dedicated supporter of students, Boone played an important role in advancing American malacology and encouraging the next generation of researchers.

Competitors for the award:

May have graduated from a degree-granting program within the six months immediately prior to the meeting’s registration deadline.
Must be the primary author of the contribution and a co-author (normally the major advisor) must provide a statement that the student completed the majority of the research.

To be considered for the award, students must indicate their desire to be judged when registering and submitting their abstract.
