After years of discussion, the American Malacological Society (AMS) and the Freshwater Mollusk Conservation Society (FMCS) are moving ahead with their first joint meeting!
The conference will take place in Philadelphia from Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16, 2027, and promises to be a packed event. This will be a great opportunity for the many people who work with mollusks in different ways to come together, share knowledge, have fun, and network.
The meeting will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Center City on Broad Street, just steps from Philadelphia's iconic City Hall and the Academy of Natural Sciences.
Philadelphia offers easy access by air, rail, and highway, with direct train service from Philadelphia International Airport to Center City. The city is also an Amtrak hub and sits along the I-95 corridor.
The hotel is conveniently located near many of Philadelphia's major attractions, including the Parkway museum district, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, the Barnes Foundation, the Franklin Institute, and the Academy of Natural Sciences.
A short walk or ride brings visitors to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the National Constitution Center, the Museum of the American Revolution, the Independence Seaport Museum, and many other historic and cultural destinations.
Conference facilities have been reserved to accommodate multiple concurrent sessions throughout the meeting. AMS and FMCS will collaborate on shared events including plenary sessions, poster sessions, the banquet, and the auction.
We are also exploring field trip opportunities to nearby points of molluscan interest, including the mussel hatchery at the Philadelphia Waterworks and the Wagner Free Institute of Science.
Additional information about registration, accommodations, presentations, field trips, and the conference program will be posted here as planning progresses.
